Free chart makers for the picture, and a table maker for the grid

A chart is the right tool when the reader should see a shape before they read a cell. A table is the right tool when they need every number in a row they can scan. Tabley now keeps both. The table maker is unchanged. The chart pages add twelve common pictures, each with its own settings, a sample you can replace, and a download as PDF, PNG, or JPEG.

Pick the chart that matches the question

Use a pie chart or a doughnut chart when every slice is a part of one whole and the parts add up to that whole. Use a bar chart when you are comparing separate categories, and a horizontal bar chart when the category names are long or you are showing a rank. Use a stacked bar chart when each category has a total and you also need the parts inside it.

Use a line chart when the horizontal axis is time or another sequence and the story is the rise and fall. Use an area chart when the amount under the line matters as much as the line itself. Use a histogram when you have a pile of raw numbers and you want to see how they bunch, not a name for each number. Use a scatter plot when each mark is a pair of measurements and you are looking for a relationship.

Use a radar chart when several scores share the same axes and you want the profile, not a ranking of one score. Use a waterfall chart when a starting total is pushed up and down by a short list of changes. Use a box plot when you want the median and the spread of a group, not every individual value. If none of those shapes help, stay on the table maker and let the reader have the grid.

The sample on each page is there so the picture is not empty. Replace the title, the labels, and the numbers before you export. Sorting, colors, grid lines, legends, axis titles, and value labels are on the same page as the picture. Nothing you type is uploaded. The chart stays in this browser until you download it or clear the site data.

People searching for a free chart maker, a pie chart generator, a bar graph maker, a line graph creator, or an online histogram usually do not need a statistics suite. They need a picture they can drop into a slide, a handout, or a report. Export PDF when the page should print, PNG when the text should stay sharp, and JPEG when a photo-style file is what the destination accepts. The links under every tool, including this page, go to the other charts and back to the table maker.

All tools

The table maker is still here. These charts are for the picture of the same numbers: parts, trends, spread, and rank. Open any chart, change the sample, and download PDF, PNG, or JPEG.
